Chad Benton. From Entrepreneur to
Co-General Manager.

placeholderOne of Enalasys' very first employees, Chad Benton is a personification of hard work. As one of the original employees of Enalasys, formerly F.A.C.T. and then Digital America in its inception, Mr. Benton has been a key contributor to Enalasys' long-term and more recent success in 2008.

Mr. Benton has been helping Enalasys to flourish and with the overwhelming success of the Southern California Edison (SCE) VSP Utility Program, history shows just how well hard work can pay off. Chad has been managing the SCE and SDG&E Contractor VSP Programs for the last two years. During the past year, he has assisted 110 contractors in their successful testing and uploading of 140k aggregate tests to the eOne Platform where utilities can access data to better manage their peak electric demand.

In previous years with Enalasys, Chad has contributed in almost every area — from calibration and sales to manufacturing and research and development. His determination and belief in the value that Enalasys brings shows just why he has been such an asset to the organization.

When asked what he most enjoyed about his time with Enalasys, Chad said: "Overall, what we are doing is very satisfying. We are the leader in Verification Programs focused around saving energy." Mr. Benton was one of few who started in 1997 working out of Eric Taylor's (CEO) garage among others to develop a tool that would "bring a more accurate method of tuning up an air conditioner so that it runs at maximum efficiency." This tool, now called the ChargeRite™ was originally part of a larger system called the eScan.

Often, most startups falter within the first 3-5 years of their initial startup period. In the short 11 years that Enalasys has been operating, they have overcome their share of obstacles and have proven what it takes to be a leader in verification services for utility mass-market programs. As technology continues to transform and shift in the marketplace, so too does Enalasys continue to adapt and address the current market needs.

With a recent announcement that the Southern California Edison plans to restart its overwhelmingly successful Contractor VSP Utility Program — to which Mr. Benton currently manages, comes the next phase of his contribution to the future of Enalasys as Co-General Manager of the Calexico office.

“Chad has understood the progression of the eScan product-line since day one. He understands the nuances of the business from every angle and has the knowledge and experience that puts him in perfect position to mentor others,” says Enalasys CEO and President, Eric Taylor. Mr. Benton certainly saw an opportunity to embark on a project which became more than just an effective way to properly install or adjust an air conditioner — but would in fact turn out to be a tool used for the greater good of reducing energy consumption on a massive scale.
