Six months of hard work by Efficiency First has gotten us far. Home Star legislation is scheduled for a vote on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives this coming Thursday, May 6. If passed, this would bring $6 Billion to the residential contracting and home performance industries and set us on the right course for decades to come.
We're in the home stretch. However, the next several days are critical. Home Star needs to not just win the vote in the House. It needs to win big, with bi-partisan support to send a clear signal to the Senate to move quickly. We need Democrats and Republicans alike to vote strongly in favor of Home Star. Your representatives need to hear from you now.
Please pick up the phone immediately and call and urge your representative to vote for the Home Star bill, H.R. 5010.

YOUR MESSAGE TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVE: The Home Star legislation, H.R. 5019 is coming to the floor on Thursday and I ask for your support.
This vote does NOT provide funding but provides authorization. I am as concerned about the use of tax dollars as anyone, but we MUST pass this bill so we can get contractors back to work retrofitting homes.
This is not about politics; this is about jobs for my business/friends/family/community.
Home Star is a bi-partisan bill that deserves bi-partisan support on the House floor.
Home Star WILL create jobs, but delaying cannot be an option. We need the jobs today!
After you've made your call, please pass this information along to any colleagues, competitors, and family members. This is likely the most important action you can take today to strengthen your business over the next two years. These calls are very important. Please don't wait.

P.S. At the same time the House is acting, we're working very hard to move things on the Senate side. While we continue to work with Senate staff, we'll also be targeting leadership. If you're able to call both of your Senators to urge them to sponsor and support the Home Star Energy Retrofit Act of 2010 (S. 3177), please do so. But first, call your representative in the House as mentioned above. We need as many calls as possible by Wednesday of this week. To find contact information for your Senators, go to www.senate.gov.
